Putin is not equal to a much more powerful Obama of the victorious American Empire. Since the fall of the U.S,S.R. it has been U.S. policy to isolate Russia as it was anticipated that Russia would attempt to regain some of its lost sphere of influence as Putin is now trying to do. The western global capitalists dont want to share power with those of a still strong nuclear Russia or the ascendant Chinese. I dont believe in Satan or his new ball. I do believe in capitalist exploitation and cut throat competition. The capitalist wars have been going on for a long time and the U.S. Empire had its birth with the Spanish American war of 1898. I will forgive Hedges religiousity as most of the time he is right on the mark and its too bad that almost all of his fellow liberal Christians have abrogated to the religious right. But religious belief like politics tends to bow before Ceasar. The U.S.A. briefly seemed to be redeeming itself from its murderous and slave ridden past in the twentieth century. The ball has been going on for thousands of years run by thieves and murderers. Everyone is conditioned from birth by society. Most are never able to de-program themselves. The average person is a beaten dog from birth. They grow up abused and conditioned by authority to obey and those who do question usually never get beyond cognitive dissonance. Even if they work hard only for themselves it can result in disease and early death. Many work hard for monstrous bosses at jobs they detest. Even the few that manage to become wealthy have usually destroyed their physical and psychological health in the process. Most live in constant fear of bosses, co-workers and in a world of exaggerated enemies to distract them from reality. Identifying with their abusers they in turn abuse themselves often working and making choices against their own best interests. In our materialist society based on competition most are stressed out as they are made to feel personally responsible for their lot. Self help is rampant in our society of individualism. Self help is also a very profitable industry. Group placebo power? Perhaps, but if one has not de-programed oneself and knows ones self than its just more herd think. It can take years to find oneself and self examination should be life long. But heres some free quick self help. The greater the authority the more it should be questioned. Obedience should be earned not given. Start ridiculing ads and organizations. If you get this far you may become one of the liberated few who know that all that really counts is to enjoy whats at hand. Most enjoyable is where no one loses and everyone has a ball. That is only possible under socialism.
