Putting your profession, business, handiwork, or other things before God is like telling God point blank that you have more important things to do in life besides Him. When our LORD Jesus Christ visited Mary and Marthas home, as Jesus preached the gospel of salvation, Mary is reported to have sat at Jesus feet listening while Martha reportedly went about distracted with other issues (Luke 10:38-42, NKJV). According to our LORD Himself, And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. Martha complained and her complaint elicited the following response from our LORD. Seeking first the kingdom of God and Gods righteousness...(Matthew 6:33, NKJV) will always make the difference in anyones life. Now one can understand more easily why Matthew the Tax Collector put God ahead of his very lucrative profession and business. You can never lose when you place God first, trust me.
