Q:12/14/15: Can someone explain the firemen (yes I observe there isnt any diversity) situation? Take the emotional quotient out of the issue. 1.Many organizations have the policy last hired, first fired. 2. If both parties knew the grant was to be for 2 years why didnt the Administration or the Paid firemen union start looking for monies to keep them? 3. I heard at council the city was good with 25 paid positions. Is the fire department as heavy in top positions as the LBPD? 4. Does the Fire Commisioner get a salary or is he volunteer? 5. Can we even compare the LBPD and LBFD? 6. Do Administration/s consider the population growth of the city? It would be helpful to the residents if we have all the facts. Thank you for asking.
