Q & A with Dr. Buka! Q: Does Accutane change skin color? I have been off Accutane for 6 months and I use to have olive colored skin now I look like a corpse. Its like it decreased my melanin and took out all my color and left me lily white with a little red/pink around cheeks. The sun doesnt hit me like it use too. I just want my regular skin tone before I took Accutane! A: Have Not Heard of Skin Discoloration! Thats interesting and not something Ive heard before. I have treated patients who report persistent dryness and also persistent sun sensitivity following isotretinoin (Accutane) use, but skin color is a new one for me. It is also unusual for Accutane to be in your system after 6 months, so Im not sure the cause of your lighter skin tone. To learn more, just visit: bobbybukamd/realself-qa#561
