Q. Hi mate just a quick bit of advice..im 34 ex mma fighter switched to boxing..i have quite broad shoulders now which seems to of slowed my punching down..would it be right if i cut down on protein a bit so i lose a bit of mass currently eating 150g of protein and i weigh 84kg hope u can help..thankyou. Protein is one of the last things I would suggest cutting back on, your daily intake seems about right, ideally this is around the 1g per pound bodyweight mark. I would look at reducing fats and carbs somewhat if you wanted to drop some mass. By mass, we are talking unwanted body fat and bloat, not muscle. By cutting only protein, chances are you will loss muscle mass as a result, and this will lead to a decrease in strength too. Not optimal. I would aim to reduce body fat percentage as much as possible, why retaining required performance level. Then you can decide if muscle is really the deciding factor in making you slow.
