Q. In the soldering lessons, it shows how you can use a long-nose pliers as a heat sink on the lead components. How are you supposed to do this when you have one hand holding the soldering iron and the other holding the solder? A. You can put a rubber band around the handle on the pliers to hold the jaws shut. There are also heat sinks available that are somewhat like surgical clamps. They lock onto the component lead and are much smaller and lighter than pliers.
