Q: Is the traffic radar used really that accurate? Is there some kind of test to see if it is accurate? A: Yes. All radar units are regularly tested by qualified technicians and are certified as reading accurately. Certificates for such are at the police department and available upon request. There are also additional checks the officer performs prior to using the radar to see if the unit is reading correctly. If the unit fails the checks, it is taken out of service and a technician will examine and calibrate it until it is once again accurate.
