Q: So how many battles have you been involved in over the past 6 months? Mujahid: We have engaged in 4 battles over the past 6 months roughly. Regiment 46, the factories in Khan Al-Asal, The Police Academy in Aleppo and attacked a convoy. The rest of the time is spent in Ribaat. Jihad is not only the battlefield, Jihad is Ribaat. The Hadeeth about Ribaat are many, being of them The Prophet peace be upon him said “Eyes that will not see Hellfire: Eyes that cried from fear of Allah, and eyes that guarded in Jihad (Ribaat) for the cause of Allah” and “Every dead person would have his deeds sealed, except the one in Ribaat, for they would have their deeds grow until the Day of Judgment, and they would be spared the tribulation of the angels of the grave” So Ribaat is a major part of Jihad. Also, when you look at the battles The Prophet peace be upon him and the companions engaged in, it was only once or twice a year, the rest was Ribaat. Q: What do you do while in Ribaat? Mujahid: We recite the Qur’aan, we listen to lectures or brothers who have knowledge give lessons, we pray and supplicate, the feeling of knowing the enemy is only meters away and you stand up in prayer during the night is an amazing feeling. Militarily, we position snipers in buildings and a group of mujahideen along the front line not far from the enemy and rotate shifts with other brothers over 24 hours. The enemy have snipers in their buildings and do the same. They fire a few shots at us, and we fire a few shots at them, this continues sometimes for weeks and sometimes months while we plan a strategy to attack and get closer and take over their buildings, pushing them back a few hundred meters, at times they attack us and push us back.
