Q: There are reports that more than 500 fighters of ISIS have been killed over the past few days. Can a Muslim be happy for such news? A: How can a Muslim be happy when his brothers are killed? Although fighting them is an obligation, being happy is something else. Though they are deviant and on the wrong track, they are still our brothers but were misguided. Fighting an assailant is permissible as mentioned in the Quran. No real Muslim can be happy for their death and destruction. When the people of Taif rejected the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam and threw him with pebbles that made his heels bleed, the angel of the mountains descended. He asked whether he wanted him to collapse the mountains over their head and destroy them. The mercy to mankind refused the offer and said: I pray that from their offspring will be people who worship Allah. Compare this with the feelings of hatred and annihilation these people have. Praise be to Allah that a lot of the youth are sending positive signs that they have finally seen the truth. They have finally realized that they were misguided and purposely driven away from scholars to misunderstand the real Islam. May Allah save our brothers and sisters from fanaticism and restore them back to the mercy and compassion of our Prophet, the mercy to mankind.
