QC cops, gov’t employees, media personnel bear cross on ‘Holy Wednesday’ Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Chief Superintendent RICHARD ALBANO and District Chaplain REV. FR. ALEXANDER PARDO led Catholic personnel of QCPD, government agencies and some members of the media in commemorating the Passion of Christ through the Stations of the Cross held today, April 16, 2014, at the Elliptical Road in Quezon City PCSUPT Albano said the Station of the Cross is part of the week-long activities of our personnel for the Lenten Season wherein those who joined were advised to bring their own cross with a minimum weight of thirty kilos which they will bear throughout the procession from the first to the last station. The procession was participated in by policemen from the twelve Police Stations of QCPD and from the District Headquarters, employees of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and from the different offices of the local government unit (LGU) of Quezon City including some media personnel. “We had also required especially those personnel who incurred excessive demerits to participate in this activity as a way of giving them penance so that in a way they would be spiritually enlightened and hopefully help them mend their ways”, PCSUPT Albano added. On April 15, 2014 (Holy Tuesday), he congratulated those who joined the mass renewal of marriage vows for married QCPD personnel held at the QCPD Chapel at 3:00 p.m.. Rev. Fr. Alex Pardo officiated the mass renewal of marriage vows, and thanked the six couples who renewed their marriage vows for their sincere effort of supporting the activity in spite of short message. This shows your commitment and your unending love towards your partners as you are renewing the same vow when you first got married, he said. Meanwhile, Fr. Pardo invites everyone to attend the morning Chrism Mass on April 17, 2014 (Maundy Thursday) at the St. Therese Shrine located at the New Port City in Villamor Airbase, Pasay City. This will be followed by the 3:00 p.m Holy Mass for Christ Suffering and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the QCPD Chapel wherein every Police Stations and Offices will take turns in an hourly vigil. On April 18, 2014 (Good Friday) at 9:00 a.m, the Station of the Cross around Camp Karingal will precede the Veneration of the Cross and a scheduled Confession at the Chapel. A Holy Mass will conclude the activities on April 19 and 20, 2014 which is the Black Saturday and Easter Sunday respectively.
