QIAA PRESENTS: FLASHBACK FRIDAYS! Every Friday we will be posting an article or video remembering a historical international event! On September 26th, 1960, the first-ever televised presidential debate took place between Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard Nixon. The two presidential candidates debated before an audience of 70 million people, ushering in a new era for political discourse in the media. The aftermath of this debate propelled Kennedy into presidency until his assassination in November of 1963. Some of the most notable events during his time in office included the Cuban missile crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion, the African-American civil rights movement, and the building of the Berlin wall.
