QT- Mark 6:14-29 John the Baptist stood his ground and told the king what was right in .gods eyes, not what the king wanted to hear. Because of that, hew as put in prison. The king didnt mind John but his sis in law despised him so the king kept John in prison. At the kings bday party his niece danced for everyone and pleased everyone so the king granted her anything she wanted, up to half of his kingdom. She didnt know what to pick so she asked her mother. Her mom immediately told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. The kings niece did ask for that and the king regretfully gave her her wish. When the disciples heard about the situation, they immediately came for his body, took it and put it in a tomb. How can I apply this to my life? John had a zillion other reasons to be bed headed, other reasons that were more respected but because of one lady with a grudge, he was killed. John said the words they didnt want to hear but was found faithful in Gods eyes. I pray if that situation comes up to me, that I would be found faithful in the Lord, no matter the cost. I also see the power of one nasty lady. I pray I never have such bitterness overtake my thinking. She was focused in destroying one man because he didnt approve of her sin. I pray I remain faithful to God and never for my own thinking or feelings.
