QUALITIES OF A NORTHERN SENATORIAL DISTRICT GOVERNOR 2015 MATTHEW OKIRI OKEYIM VOICE MAGAZINE NETHERLANDS HOLLAND The office and position of governor has gained recognition and strength in Nigeria over the years. No wonder to be a governor of a state in Nigeria today is like being a president in another small country within a big country. In order for a governor to enjoy the type of power that the president has in a state, many factors must come into play--many of them beginning with the governor as a person. To be a strong governor, one must be a leader that not only has good ideas, but also one who can motivate others about those new ideas. There are many things that we can learn from the Book of Nehemiah, but can we now focus on Nehemiah’s leadership. Throughout the book, we see the various character qualities that made Nehemiah to be good governor. As we look at these seven qualities today, I would like for you to think about them: If God has called you to a leadership role; these are qualities that you should be able to emulate. If God has called you to a supporting role, these are qualities that you should look for in a leader, whether you are choosing a political leader, community leader, business leader, religious leader in 2015! The seven qualities includes: Trust worthiness, compassion, prayer, action, fearlessness, organization and justice. Remember Like Nehemiah, our Lord Jesus Christ left the comforts of his home to help a people in need. He, too, was trustworthy, compassionate, a man of both prayer and action, fearless in the face of opposition, organized in his work, and executed he justice in everything he ever did. The people of cross river state and the entire Northern senatorial district in 2015 are looking for governor with these qualities.
