QUENCH FIRE WITH WATER When the house caught fire, people were shouting ‘bring water’ and as people gather with water, though it took a while, the fire was finally quenched. The best way to battle fire is by using water; fire services have water as their only tool for fighting fire. If everyone knows how to quench a fire, why don’t we know how to overcome, defeat and quench evil? Though the bible has plainly stated the right weapon to use in defeating the evil directed towards us by family members, friends and acquaintances, yet we don’t use it. When you fight fire with more fire, you increase the fire (fire doesn’t quench fire, it rather superimposes it i.e. makes it burn more), yes, when we fight evil with evil, we don’t destroy the evil, we increases it. People now in the name of prayer haul curses (evil tidings) to those they consider their enemies (those directing evil to them). When you cast back an evil intentions directed against you back to the sender, you multiply evil intentions, and not destroy it and hence a multiplied version of evil intentions would be directed back to you. The only way to destroy evil is with good ‘Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good’ Ro 12:21 God doesn’t give to us what other wishes for us but what we wishes and prayed for in others. If we direct mercy to others, we shall obtain mercy, if we direct goodness to others we shall obtain goodness, if we direct health to others we shall obtain health and if we direct curses to others, behold, curses won’t cease from hurting us. It’s your desires for others that God brings to you and not your desires for yourself, so if you are wise, don’t wish people evil because they are evil to you or wished you evil (remember they get back what they wished you as long as you don’t wish same back to them). ‘But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
