QUESTION: Are we holding strong female characters up to an impossible standard we would never ask of men? I find myself defending characters like Black Widow and Gamora who are some of the most successful female anti-heroes on film yet nobody talks about any of the female X-Men or even Invisible Woman. Widow and Gamora are assassins, not the most open type of characters yet people expect this overly elaborate character development when you dont even get that from male assassin types in other movies, what gives?
