QUESTION FROM TEACHER: I have seen some Kindergarten teachers who have the students copy a lot of the words that are being used in writing projects. One recent project had to do with things they are thankful for. For this project, the students wrote down the words - which were copied perfectly from somewhere, or spelled out for them letter by letter (ie family, macaroni and cheese, my remote controlled truck). I personally, would rather work with them as they sound out the word and spell the sounds they here. Of course, words on our word wall would need to be spelled correctly, but if they spell macaroni and cheese like this macrone n chez - is that so bad...? What do you do?
