QUESTION from the inbox: last year my husband(an inmate of 8 years state prison) and I were talking about jobs and he suggested that I apply to be a correctional officer well I applied and after I told him I did he was shocked and said NO he was just joking about it and I told him I didnt know he was just playing. well yesterday I came home to a letter from the department of corrections with my scheduled testing date to become a correctional officer. so I told my hubby when he called and he got upset. my question is should I pursue it. he has less than 2 and a half years to go and I work as a mail lady right now and if I pursue this job I would be making double of what I am making now. i make about 24000 a year and a starting salary for an illinois correctional officer is 41,000 and after training it goes up to almost $48,000. I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons and I spoke to my husband today and now he is more on the go for it side. I just dont want to make a wrong decision about this. #iLoveMyInmate
