QUOTE OF THE DAY Black people only marvel at good results but few of them ever take the pain to go into the root of the awe achievements. Many Nigerians now wonder at the great achievements of Sweden and other Scandinavian countries (Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland) but they never bother to check into the history of these countries and learn how they got where they are today. Denmark, Sweden and Norway were once a country called ‘Kalmar Union’, while Finland was a province of imperial Russia before it negotiated its exit from Russia in 1918. The Scandinavians decided to split the Kalmar Federation into its natural ethnic component after several years of turmoil. Even though these countries have almost identical cultural and religious identity, they decided to dissolve the union into separate sovereign states. Scandinavians were the first people in Europe to understand that there is no future for forced amalgamation of different indigenous ethnic nations into one unitary state. The same stupid path some mad people are pushing Nigerian nations today. A fool may learn from his own error but a wise person learns from others mistake. The Asian is learning very fast from Europeans mistakes while African, especially Nigerians seem to be learning nothing. -Richard Akinwande Olurombi.
