QURĀN Many of us wait until Ramadan or just before Ramadan to revise what we have memorised from the Qurān. Most of the time this just seems to happen without us intending or planning it. Before we know it, we find ourselves in Ramadan, and only then do we realise how much we have been neglecting the words of Allāh in the rest of the year. Indeed it was in the blessed month of Ramadan that this mighty Book was revealed, but dont wait for Ramadan to turn to it often, rather let us commit ourselves from now, if you have been slacking in your revision (I myself have been falling behind a lot recently), and let us make sure we give plenty of time to read, study, memorise and most importantly act upon the verses of Allāh. وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ And (remember) the Day when We shall raise up from every nation a witness against them from amongst themselves. And We shall bring you (O Muhammad SAW) as a witness against these. And We have sent down to you the Book (the Quran) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allâh as Muslims). [16:89]
