‘Quay People’, ‘The Rise and Fall of the River Tyne Tugboat Industry, The Training Ship Wellesley 1868 – 1914 Making Waves With Exciting Exhibition Programme. Final touches are being made to The Net’s forthcoming exhibition programme. Our first commissioned exhibition: ‘Quay People’ will feature individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses who help to make the Fish Quay the vibrant place it is today. • ‘The Rise and Fall of the River Tyne Tugboat Industry: 11th – 14th September An exhibition to truly tug at the memory banks by South Tyneside’s ‘Working On the Tyne’ project group. The exhibition explores the rich history of one of the lesser known aspects of life and work on the River Tyne. • The Training Ship Wellesley 1868 – 1914: 11th September – 30 November For those of you who missed this emotive exhibition hosted in Segedunum Museum early this year, we are pleased to be exhibiting highlights from it. The exhibition charts the life of The Wellesley and some of its characters on board the Tyne’s famous school ship which was eventually destroyed by fire in 1914.
