Question: Can I pay the exit fee in instalments? This question - TopicsExpress

Question: Can I pay the exit fee in instalments? This question was asked by a concerned lady at the Roadshow at Elmers Court. No was Simon Jacksons callous reply. We signed a legal document to say we would pay maintenance for a certain fixed week in a certain apartment for perpetuity. We did NOT sign a legal document to join a points scheme. How - legally - they can demand an Exit Fee from us? I suspect the legal document we have to sign will come ( too quickly to get legal advice) with the letter after the Yes vote to ask do we want to exit the Points Scheme. If you opt to take points because you cant afford the Exit Fee or you have been duped to think its a great idea, you will be STILL be locked in to a points scheme that demands yearly rising Maintenance Fees. The carrot will be that we can have our own (in my case beachfront apartments) NEXT year (but no REAL assurances we can ever have it again). This is portrayed as Macdonald generosity. It isnt; because we have already paid our maintenance fees for next year! Once we say we will accept our own apartment next year (and have to pay for it with points - regardless of the fact that we will have already paid for it in cash (the Maintenance Fee) we will be locked in to paying Maintenance - yet again. Before you owned bricks and mortar ( an asset - or why are Macdonalds trying to take apartments back! ) a Yes vote means we will all be given - What? Points to use in another Macdonald Resort. Whoopee! Promises. Expensive promises. Dont imagine that you can EVER be free of your Points either. Who is going to buy them off you? Who on earth will want to buy a points system for ONLY Macdonalds, when all other points systems are worldwide! It was obvious at the Elmers Court Roadshow people thought they were getting Options/Vacation Club points! A lady even asked how many points would she need for a cruise!!!!! Macdonalds IS A HOTEL GROUP. They know there is a ground swell in the Judiciary against Timeshare perpetuity clauses and they wont get Maintenance Fees back through the Courts. ( Not that they have tried very hard! Dona Lola is owed upwards of 1.6 million pounds of debt). THEY MEAN TO TURN THEIR RESORTS OVER TO RESORT HOTELS. where the people who have priority are those booking an apartment or lodge. Neil Palfeyman told me that he was assured by higher management that Options-Vacation Club Members would be given priority. I can assure you, that as a renter for a LONG time before I became an owner, that the people with the priority when it came to booking what they wanted were the renters ( shortly to be called guests of the resort as Macdonalds were getting MONEY from THEM- while they were ALREADY getting money from owners and Option-Vacation Club Members and Points people! Its called Win and Win. We Former Owner as Macdonalds has started to call us will be very low down on their list of priorities for booking weeks and apartments as having got us all in a points system they will quickly take ALL apartments back under their complete control. I have to hand it too them - it is a masterful business plan. No wonder Simon Jackson was looking very pleased at the Roadshow. And shame on you committee for not protecting our interests. BUT if people DONT pay the Exit Fee. After all - why should they, they signed no legal document to get into a Points Scheme, so why should they pay to get out of it. SURELY THERE MUST BE A SOLICITOR WHO IS A MEMBER OF THE DONA LOLA. If not - do remember, that if you go to see one - ( and I mean a REAL solicitor and NOT these companies that will TELL you they can get you out any agreement with Macdonald but dont use qualified lawyers!!!) that SOLICITORS give a 30 minutes FREE ADVICE (and most give a lot more than that) for you to see if you need, or if you can take any action or not - and THEY dont give you the hard sell.
