Question: Does voluntary fasting has the same reward as fasting - TopicsExpress

Question: Does voluntary fasting has the same reward as fasting Ramadan? Answer: Definitely not, the best deed, the best action, the best form of worship you can do is the obligatory thing; there is nothing that draws you closer to Allah better then the obligatory things. By logic, if someone ask “what is better? Do make up for a day of Ramadan, which I did not fast or to fast Thursdays?” definitely the obligatory thing is grater in reward, and grater than any other type of voluntary actions. Nevertheless, voluntary actions are nothing to be neglected. The Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said “whoever fasts a day in the path of Allah, for Allah, then Allah will draw his face 70 years away from Hellfire”, only for fasting one day, some scholars say that this is the voluntary day, if someone fasts for the sake of Allah, Allah will draw him a distance of 70 years away from hellfire.
