Question I received: Okay. My family doesnt understand all the things us fangirls know about, like ships and how important these stories and worlds we live in are. And I dont have any friends except 2 people and they act like sometimes they dont even want to fangirl with me or actually have a real conversation. I guess you could say Im not the popular girl at school but I feel so alone all I have is books and my family thinks everything I do is stupid and a waste of time. Im hoping you can help me with this. if you cant its fine. Thankyou I get it. I get what youre going through and I think a lot of us fangirls can relate to you. Youre not alone in this, please dont think youre the only one who feels this way. I wrote a blog post about when youre friends arent into fandoms and its not supposed to be entirely serious but it might help you. You probably dont get or love everything that they like. You dont need to be like your family. Heres the thing. Youre never going to be exactly like everyone else, no one is. Not even the popular girls are like everyone else. Were all different. And thats actually a really cool thing. I know that, that might not sound helpful but eventually you will learn that being different is not a flaw it is an advantage. As you get older youll start to feel more okay with not being like everyone else around you. None of my friends at school were into books or fandoms or anything like that and that did kinda suck at times but mostly I was okay with it. Why? Because I dont need them to be able to like all the things that I like to be friends with them. Books are fantastic, use them, read them, love them. Theyre always going to be there for you but there is also a whole world out there waiting for you. Dont isolate yourself because you feel different. There are a LOT of people in this world and there are a LOT of fangirls. Trust me. Look at how many fan pages there are and how many people like them. There are fangirl friends out there waiting for you. But even if you never find one thats okay, because most people are pretty awesome and soon enough youll find someone that youre never going to want to be apart from and they might not be a fangirl but that is okay. I want to help you with this but I think mostly you need to help yourself. What I have written is my advice but you need to go out there and seize the day. Live life. Dont just live for the good moments, live for the bad as well.
