Question? This is the 1st Amendment of our constitution - Passed - TopicsExpress

Question? This is the 1st Amendment of our constitution - Passed by Congress: 25 September 1789 Ratified: 15 December 1791 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. My question is this: If our elected officials give Federal tax exemptions to the church, are they violating our U.S. Constitution? I ask this because there are many definitions for the word respect; this is one. Respect - agree to recognize and abide by (a legal requirement).
