Question re: spin - Diesal (almost 11 years old) learned spin/twirl as a young dog (probably under a year). I went to video it tonight and he still does this trick even though I don’t practice it often. I realized it is definitely on stimulus control, but only with BOTH verbal and visual (hand, and when I watch the video apparently body) cues at the same time. If I give only one cue or the other he won’t do it, and if I give a larger hand motion with no verbal, he just turns halfway, then turns back confused. I know somewhere else you have said not to use verbal and visual cues at the same time because they will only be really paying attention to one. Normally I practice verbal only and visual only separately on purpose, but apparently never got there with this trick. Do you think his stimulus control for this behaviour is both together or is there some other explanation? Just curious. I don’t plan on changing it on him now at his age, especially since he is just getting back into thinking training is fun again and that would be something he would probably find stressful. youtu.be/YKgL-RbKXIY
