Questions??? How many people out there know what a patent is? For more info on what a patent is you can see the definition below. Typically patents are issued on things like inventions. It is almost like a copyright on a song or movie so that other people cannot copy it and get monetary gain from it. Otherwise it is stealing your invention. Most of the time a patent is issued on something that has been created or invented and is actually past the drawing board stages to actual creation of the invention being planned. Also inventions with patents many times will be followed with actual working production models and mass production of the product once it passes all of the testing stages and licensing. Now with that in mind, a more serious question is this: Why does the CDC have a patent on ebola? Can someone please tell me why the CDC has a copywritten patent on the EBOLA virus??? Something tells me that the current ebola outbreaks are not an accident... _______________________________________________ A patent (/ˈpætənt/ or /ˈpeɪtənt/) is a set of exclusive rights granted by a sovereign state to an inventor or assignee for a limited period of time in exchange for detailed public disclosure of an invention. An invention is a solution to a specific technological problem and is a product or a process. Patents are a form of intellectual property. The procedure for granting patents, requirements placed on the patentee, and the extent of the exclusive rights vary widely between countries according to national laws and international agreements. Typically, however, a granted patent application must include one or more claims that define the invention. A patent may include many claims, each of which defines a specific property right. These claims must meet relevant patentability requirements, such as novelty and non-obviousness. The exclusive right granted to a patentee in most countries is the right to prevent others from commercially making, using, selling, importing, or distributing a patented invention without permission. Under the World Trade Organizations (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, patents should be available in WTO member states for any invention, in all fields of technology, and the term of protection available should be a minimum of twenty years. Nevertheless, there are variations on what is patentable subject matter from country to country. https://youtube/watch?v=Nm93Qd6Cm5o
