Queuing Up for Disappointment Gerrard has been the ONLY team - TopicsExpress

Queuing Up for Disappointment Gerrard has been the ONLY team player in the England squad. Its once again the chaotic centre-backs and a nervous Joe Hart that were the cause of the Suarez winner, which was a lesson-teaching goal I might add. Our undoing is that we have great individual players, but we dont need glory-hunters, we need a side that represents their country together. Root out the selfish players, stop playing the long ball, hold on to the ball like its a national treasure, when theres a chance, gamble. Stop this belting the ball goal-wards in desperation John Smiths AVIT style, it needlessly gives the ball away. Play with some flair in space, show off a little so it looks like your having fun being on the pitch at the World Cup, and less like its a job youve come to hate. Be there for each other, when they mess up its up to them and you to get the ball back and keep it. Why play along the back four, it gives the opposition team time to mark up, pull together and blockade any form of attack. When we have the ball were never patient, when we dont were lazily naval-gazing, and out heads drop every time we lose the ball mid-attack. Frustrate the opposition into exhaustion and play the long game. Passion comes from the belief in each other, the trust you have in one anothers abilities; the discussions and strategy worked out from the top-down. Although in contradiction, as a team of Englishmen, they like most of us grew up having trust issues. Think about the academy system pushing forward great individuals and not great team players. We play like were on a business trip. Were not tribal, brotherly or supportive when on the pitch. Its been Spains undoing of late with adding an individual such as Diego Costa, when David Villa has scored the most goals for Spain. If youre going to play in a country as passionate about football as Brazil, you share your passion, you should be compassionate about the wider populations situation, that you should be playing for the same love of the sport you had as a child, as the youth of Brazil see it, as an inspiration to better their lives through belief, trust, and passion in a connected world against progressive philosophies. Forget 66, that was before humanity endeavoured to walk on the Moon; before we could instantly talk to each other across the globe on the internet; before we could watch our heroes on TV kicking a ball or saving the world, or even before folks like me voices their opinions, perhaps overtly freely. The world now will be in a constant anxious state of fluidity, change will be an ever-noticeable constant. What a football team can strive to do is to maintain the core ideals of why theyre there. To win, graciously and to lose graciously. When you are beaten, you must recognise why and how so the next time youre on the pitch you have founded a new-self, a betterment of who you once were. The last match was just practise for the next one. Forget 66, the World has changed. Dont forget why you fell in love with the sport in the first place, and why you enjoy playing alongside others who love the sport as you do.
