Quick survival tip. If you can find a needle or other slim piece of metal you can locate north. You will need to magnetize the tip of the needle which can be done by rubbing it on a magnet, pure silk or using a battery. Next place the needle on top of a leave, cork or other lightly floating piece of material and place it in water.
