Quick update: The weather for the district is going to sunny and clear with a high around 70 in lower elevations and 60 in the upper mountain areas. Overnight lows in the 40s with temps dipping to close to freezing up high. Still lots of snow high up but with the rivers evening out and the warm weather approaching you can bet that those mountain areas will be open on time if not early this season. Memorial Day Weekend could offer some great views for people who dont mind trudging over some snow. The lower elevations are open and wonderful and springing to life as flowers like trilliums come into full swing. Paddling should be really good on rivers with the faster water and higher levels, the Teanaway is probably prime for a bit longer before it drops below fun levels. With the temps up getting on the lakes as they open is also going be good. Early mornings at higher lakes will bring misty paddle sessions that break into bluebird glory as the sun wakes up the mountains. Wildlife viewing is going to be getting better as more places open up giving a chance to have a casual encounter with a bear along the trail or maybe some elk passing by. Its that time of year when the snow recedes further losing its grip on the mountains and slowly, as we patiently wait, the mountains open up and we can embrace them fully. As always I am here for questions and advice when it comes to the outdoors and I hope to see friendly and familiar faces on the trails this season.
