Quite frankly, I am fed up with people crying about the situation - TopicsExpress

Quite frankly, I am fed up with people crying about the situation their lives are in because someone else (or something else) didnt provide them with something they felt they deserved. I dont understand the hatred of the past and blaming others. I am a 3rd generation Italian American. When my great grandfather and his wife arrived to the US, penniless, on a fruit boat from Italy, he said, We are now Americans. We start new today. He pushed a fruit cart he made himself from New York to Harrisburg saving his money to buy property and build his house on Cameron St. I dont hate Italians for his plight that forced him to leave his home to escape poverty and oppression. I dont hate the US because of how he was treated as an unwanted immigrant. I am grateful for the opportunity he provided. During the depression, at age 10 my grandmother, her younger sister, and baby brother were sold as bond servants to a farmer who worked and beat them. She only had a third grade education. She married my grandfather at age 14 and my grandfather bought her and her siblings out of the bond. They suffered, they persevered, they overcame so that their family, and future family would have a better life. I am proud of them and grateful to them. They taught me not to blame your past, but to work, and sacrifice to build your future. I would disgrace them and their lifes work if I blamed my misfortunes on the plight they endured. YOU are an American. YOU have a life to live and choices to make. Dont wait for someone else to make your life better. They cannot. Dont rely on someone else to improve your situation. They will not. Break your own bonds of dependency and take responsibility of YOUR life.
