Quite the rainstorm we had last night! For the 12-hour period from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., AFD responded to 173 calls including 49 Fire Alarm Calls, five Flood Assists, and six Wires Arcing calls. AFD and EMS had only one water rescue call and that person had self-extricated prior to arrival. The biggest issue was lightning. Austin Fire units responded to six lightning-caused structure fires: four in the city and two in Travis County. The most important factor? No reported injuries.
