Quiz Review Question #3 (question 1 & 2 discussed in class) 3) In his discussion of Murnau’s Faust on 3-3-14, professor Juhász stated, “ there is an extreme argument that has been made, which you can’t say is exactly completely false, and it says that: as soon as there is civilization, as soon man has become a domestic animal then a. the gates of hell have been opened” b. architecture has become a lucrative profession” c. nature has been conquered” d. man has been saved from himself” Even if you didnt recall this part of the lecture if you watched Faust carefully and are processing the class this far you should be able to reason your way to what Professor Juhasz would say based on the discussion of class materials so far. a is the best answer here. b is a a good answer but does not trump a as the best answer because a leads to b and therefore precedes it.
