Quoted from Desdamona Rox! #Truth #Respect #KnowledgeIsKey Saint Paul artist Nick Mastermind Muhammad just dropped this video about not only the recent murder but also countless others. Included in the credits for the video is a link to Color of Change. Im posting it here for those who may not see it in the credits. colorofchange.org/campaign/ferguson-police-executed-my-unarmed-son/ And here are some of my own thoughts along with a related video: tcdailyplanet.net/news/2014/08/27/st-paul-cops-allegedly-taser-and-arrest-black-male-sitting-public-space#.U_6UC6k6770.facebook I thought I would repost this because so many people will say that what happened in Ferguson is not about race and I think as a white person its really easy to say things like this when you have NO experience with this kind of harassment, discrimination and racism. I know that people are afraid to talk about this and others get very defensive of the cop but this is actually a much greater problem than what some people might think is a random occurrence and we should not be so quick to assume the worst of the victim, the dead child and dead children and other people who have been brutalized in similar circumstances. Name calling and broad assumptions about a dead child with information only coming from television news sources. A child that is not here to speak for themselves and I would hate to think that we would cast such harsh judgement that would provide justification of anyone being killed on streets and left for hours. The crime of that childs death is far worse than any crime that child could ever commit. This isnt an attack on one cop or on cops as a whole. This is systematic ... I have witnessed intensely aggressive behavior from cops in Minneapolis and manipulation of people and situations to benefit their agenda. It is very scary to witness and I cant imagine being subjected to this kind of force and action. This is a wake up call to all of us and for those of us who cannot see past our own experience, it is a call to understand that this isnt a personal attack but its a chance to make changes for the better of all people. Its not about some weird guilt trip, so get over it. We have to stop being so self absorbed. Racism is still here and we all perpetuate it, even in small ways and I think in some ways that we have yet to recognize. Im really hoping we start figuring it out, sooner than later.
