R.I.P. TONY MUSANTE (1936-2013) American actor Tony Musante died last Tuesday of a hemorrhage after oral surgery. He was 77. He was born in 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in an Italian-American family. When the spaghetti western craze was at its peak he went to Italy to appear alongside Franco Nero and Jack Palance in Sergio Corbuccis The Mercenary. In 1970 Dario Argento cast him for the classic Giallo The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. He turned back to the US for a couple of starring roles in Hollywood movies and the TV-series Toma (1973-74) in which he played an Italoamerican detective called Toma. After his departure ABC rebooted the series as Baretta, with Robert Blake replacing Musante. For spaghetti western fans, Tony Musante will forever be Paco Roman from Corbuccis The Mercenary.
