RACE RECAP: The Vermont Beast was by far the most brutal and challenging race I have ever done. 14.2 miles, 30 obstacles, 15,500 feet of total altitude change and a 60 pound sandbag carry up Black Diamond Ski Slope that was .25 miles up at literally a 45 degree angle and .25 miles back down. Not only did I finish the race, but I and got my Trifecta. And although my time was not fantastic (7.5 hours) I still finished a little ahead of 50% of the participants in the Elite Heat. I I have never seen so many grown men break down, quit, and literally freak out at the sight of these mountains. This race definitely pushed people to their limits. I started cramping at mile 6 after a brutal barb wire crawl. I thought about quitting this race multiple times before and after my cramps but I never quit anything in life...and I was not gonna start here. I dug in real deep, prayed and took it one step at a time and before long, I was crossing that finish line. Be encouraged...you can do anything you put your mind to. And although a bit cliche, Phillipians 4:13...we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! Thank you to all who have followed up, prayed and supported me throughout the way. It means so much. Needless to say, Vermont is NOT in my plans for next year. :-)
