RACUS was founded in 1991 (it is registered in Saint Petersburg) on the initiative and with the support of a group of Russian state universities. Today the organization has 5 departments and representative offices in 58 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Commonwealth of Independent States (some of former USSR countries) and Europe as well as branch offices in 10 cities in the European part of Russia. The name RACUS is an abbreviation of its first four departments: DEPARTMENT №1 Russian-Arabic Centre for University Service DEPARTMENT №2 Russian-Asian Centre for University Service DEPARTMENT №3 Russian-African Centre for University Service DEPARTMENT №4 Russian-American Centre for University Service DEPARTMENT №5 Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Europe DEPARTMENT №1 RACUS – Russian-Arabic Center for University Services - represents Russian universities in the Middle Eastern countries. The department organizes and carries out annual “Study in Russia” educational exhibitions; holds educational seminars and conferences for graduates; enrolls citizens of the Middle Eastern countries to study at state higher educational establishments inRussia, prepares and carries out joint educational projects between Russian and the Middle Eastern universities and colleges. DEPARTMENT №2 RACUS– Russian-Asian Center for University Services – represents Russian universities in Asian countries. The department organizes and carries out annual “Study in Russia” educational exhibitions; holds educational seminars and conferences for graduates; enrolls citizens of Asian countries to study at state higher educational establishments in Russia, prepares and carries out joint educational projects between Russian and Asian universities and colleges. DEPARTMENT №3 RACUS– Russian-African Center for University Services – represents Russian Universities in African countries. The Department organizes and carries out annual educational exhibitions “Study in Russia”; holds educational seminars and conferences for graduates; enrolls citizens of African counties to study at the state higher education establishments of Russia, prepares and carries out joint educational projects between Russian and African universities and colleges. DEPARTMENT №4 RACUS– Russian-American Center for University Services – represents Russian universities in South American countries. The department organizes and carries out annual “Study in Russia” educational exhibitions; holds educational seminars and conferences for graduates; enrolls citizens of South American countries to study at state higher educational establishments in Russia, prepares and carries out joint educational projects between Russian and South American universities and colleges. DEPARTMENT №5 Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Europe – represents Russian universities in the CIS countries and Europe. The department organizes and carries out annual “Study in Russia” educational exhibitions; holds educational seminars and conferences for graduates; enrolls citizens of the CIS countries and Europe to study at state higher educational establishments in Russia, prepares and carries out joint educational projects between Russian and CIS or European universities and college
