RAISE YOUR VOICE AGAINST GrameenPhone (GP)!!! Recently I called back to a number (+88183771171) from my GrameenPhone (GP) mobile that charged total 1,250 tk (+ 15% VAT) for 2 minutes!!! What a robbery!!! I called to GP Call center and got no considerable answer. Later, I e-mailed (insta.service@grameenphone) and had several communication that drew no faithful response even. Now, it is quite clear to me that, GP has not yet learned to or is unwilling to provide straight answer to straight question. Throughout the whole communication, GP bypassed the question notion and tried to mislead instead. There are some simple allegations or liabilities that GP cannot disclaim are as follows: -If the caller party is an international fraud syndicate, GP is also taking part in it and serving them as a party and making illicit money as GP is charging money (500 tk/min) on their behalf and laundering the proceeds to that calling party. -The call I made had some interesting features- it played an automated male voice in Bangla (with local accent) describing about some call game having huge possibilities of receiving lucrative prizes like huge dollars etc. It can be easily assumed that these are operated within the country and they are a strong syndicate and GP is a party there. -GP has interest in such calls and SMSs otherwise GP might have prevented all such numbers from calling to GPs users; that was ethical responsibility of GP to protect their users from such fraud. -If BTRC has somehow made such charging legitimate, it is easily assumed that the mobile company like GP is fooling them and making proceeds and legalizing the whole process with due percentage of tax/VAT to the government. -There are several published fraudulent allegations against GP of nonpayment of huge govt. taxes (millions of taka) and such trade of illegal calls seem very likely to GP. -In many cases, GP produces TVCs and radio commercials on many topics even on unimportant issues for their brand promotion. But in no case, GP has produced a single media material to raise awareness in people to prevent them calling to such numbers. This is also a vital issue that indicates GPs participation in such fraudulent activities. RAISE YOUR VOICE AGAINST GrameenPhone!!!
