RALPH RICCIO..........A look back by Christopher Fortier TBT: Let’s talk about this guy for a minute - the late, great Ralph Riccio, in a photo I took for The Observer in 1998 shortly after the road into the municipal lot off of North Main Street was named in honor of him and his late brother, Vito. For those of you who don’t know, the Riccio twins were one of a kind (or two of a kind as the case may be) - Lewis High grads, business owners for 38 years, pillars and cheerleaders of the culture and character of downtown Southington. They came on the scene during downtown’s heyday and retired well after the tumbleweeds were blowing down North Main and Center streets. They never abandoned the center for Queen Street and they never lost hope that it could become, well, what it is today. He left us in 2010 with a legacy of dedication to his hometown and a million stories to go with it. I’m glad I was able to spend some time with him.
