RAMADAN: The Saudi Supreme Court is expected to make an announcement of the start of Ramadan before 8:30pm (time of Isha prayer at Makkah). If it’s announced that the new moon could not be sighted then Sunday will be the first fasting day of Ramadan. Some astronomy societies have predicted that Ramadan 1st will be Sunday 29 June. However, several scholars have insisted that the Sunnah should be followed and the new moon should be looked for on the 29th of Shaaban (27 June) regardless of the astronomical predictions.
