RANGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH INF ADAM ROSALES ON ONE-YEAR CONTRACT Rosales had been eligible for arbitration Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has agreed to terms with infielder Adam Rosales on a one-year contract for the 2014 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, per club policy. Rosales, 30, had been eligible for arbitration. He split last season with Oakland and Texas, combining to hit .190 with 5 doubles, 5 home runs, 12 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 68 games. He was claimed on waivers by the Rangers for the second time in an 11-day span on August 12 and spent the rest of the year in Texas. Rosales was designated for assignment four times in a span of 34 days from July 8-August 10, three times by Oakland and once by Texas. Rosales has a career .219 average in 319 major league games with Cincinnati (2008-09), Oakland (2010-13), and Texas (2013). He has made at least 18 starts at all four infield positions in his big league career, and also has 8 games in left field. Rosales was originally selected by Cincinnati in the 2005 June draft. RANGERS SIGN PAIR OF NON-ROSTER INVITES: Texas formally announced the signings of left-handed pitcher Aaron Poreda and outfielder Brad Snyder to minor league contracts with invitations to major league spring training. Poreda, 27, missed the entire 2013 campaign while recovering from “Tommy John” ligament replacement surgery. He last pitched with Double-A Altoona in the Pittsburgh organization in 2012, going 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA (4 ER/16.0 IP) in 3 starts. The University of San Francisco product was a first round selection (25th overall) by the Chicago White Sox in the 2007 June draft and made his major league debut with Chicago in 2009. He has gone 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (4 ER/13.1 IP) over 14 relief appearances at the major league level with the White Sox and Padres. Snyder, 31, batted .311 (128-411) with 12 home runs and 60 RBI in 116 games with Triple-A Reno in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization last season. The left-handed batter/thrower has also spent time in the Houston (2012), Chicago-NL (2009-11), and Cleveland (2003-2008) organizations. He hit .167 (6-36) with 5 RBI in 20 career games at the major league level with the Cubs in 2010-11. He was originally selected by Cleveland in the first round (18th overall) of the 2003 June draft and is currently playing with Oriente in the Dominican Winter League. Snyder is the older brother of former Rangers farmhand Ben Snyder. Poreda and Snyder join right-handed pitcher Ross Wolf as the three players with non-roster invitations to the Rangers’ major league camp next spring.
