RANT ALERT!!!!!!! It may be difficult for some to believe, but I think I may have just shopped at Walmart for the last time. Im was standing in line to checkout, wondering why it was taking so long (nothing new there). I payed close attention to the transaction. A women stood holding a piece of paper with her grocery list in pencil, prices neatly written beside each item. She was price matching. Good for her. With three children to feed, Im sure she could benefit from saving on groceries. As the checker rang up each item, the customer would tell her what price to enter—for every single item in her basket. The checker then made an override of the price and went on to the next item. I know how price matching works. So Im looking for the competitors sales ad. I dont see one anywhere, and the checker never asks to see one, nor does she have one herself. OMG! I want to check out at Walmart and tell the checker what price I want to pay for each item. So I keep from spewing until the customer leaves with her basket/steal! I ask the checker, why did she tell you each price. The checker says proudly, Oh, she was price-matching. I said, But you never verified the price with an ad. She said, I dont need one, I have them all memorized. Me—What, all the prices from all of the competitors? Her—Oh yes! By then my blood was boiling. She immediately left for her break and another lady who had been standing beside her took over. Me—Did you hear that? Her—I did. We sometimes write the prices on our hands. Me—All of them? Her—Yes! Me—Ok, everything in may basket is $1.00 each. She put her hands on her hips and said—Prove it! My mind is too stunned to finish the story.
