*****RANT ALERT***** WARNING THIS COULD PISS YOU OFF...(not just with the company but my decision as well, just saying)..I never/rarely rant, I try to always look for the good and be positive. That being said Im a bit torn on what to do. I always love to support local (MN) businesses, but this one kind of surprised me. Lets start in the beginning, last year I was approached by a company to do an animated short video for Aegis Foundation. Thats not in the Aegis budget (or mine for that matter with starting up Max Martin) They came back with a great deal, I mean, really good. (keep in mind the expression you get what you pay for). So the decision was made that it would be best for the foundation to have a 1 minute creative, easy to watch video on the site for supporters, potential donors & sponsors. It has been up now for about 10-11 months. Everyone was (is) happy with it AegisFoundationInc.org I have watched the video a million times. You know how the more you see something the less you actually see? Well I never caught a word that is misspelled and no one has ever brought it to my attention until last week. A potential sponsor for our annual Oscar night said, The word FOUNDATION is spelled wrong at the :45 second mark. Since you give scholarships I feel that should be corrected first. When you have that corrected let us know. I GASPED! and immediately went to look, and OMG it said Foudation (missing the N). I emailed the person who I was working with asking to please add the letter N to the misspelled word. this was their response: Yes, we can correct it. Since it has been so long, Ill need you to cover that fee, which is $250. Ill send an invoice from our Square account and once that gets paid, well get started. We gave the video to you at a deeply discounted rate. That allowed for only 1 revision. You had an opportunity to request changes and that process concluded. In order to make another change, there is a change fee. It is minimal. Even with this change fee, it is still a significant value and still deeply discounted. When you have the funds, let me know and well get the change order in our workflow. To be quite honest, I was not expecting that....maybe I shouldnt have had expectations at all. I started to think about how this company operates, let me explain. While going through the process of creating the script, they had an issue with one part, the part that says LGBT youth. UGH, I Know, THAT right there should have been the RED FLAG to say dont work with this company. The owner and I went round and round about having it in there...I said WELL, IT HAS TO BE IN THERE. He said he doesnt have an issue with LGBT but that they could not put their company name on it because of their other larger, conservative clients, if they did the video at all. He came back to say OK we will do it but please dont post or publicize our name, we will do because we said we would and we want to keep our word on the offer. again poor decision on my part by even continuing to work with them, but the deal was too good, clearly. I know this is getting long...... long story short, am I wrong for being upset they want $250 to fix an error that was not noticed until now? or should I just pay it, have it fixed and be done with them?
