RANT ALERT: You know, I really dont care one way or the other about the movie NOAH....whether I see it or dont see it. Im not sure that I could find it here in Costa Rica anyway. What I DO care about that actually has me a little riled up is the LEGALISM coming out of the Christian World! Oy Vey yall!!! I have never even heard of Dr. Brian whoever he is, but suddenly because he says Afronsky is off, thats supposed to mean something. (Just because I havent heard of him doesnt mean much either....but you get the idea.) Legalism is invoking rules and laws and expecting others to keep the rules you keep, even though you arent necessarily following them across the board yourselves! Most of the Christians making such a fuss about the movie NOAH because it isnt based on the Bible dont give a rip about the Bible when going to see shows rooted in the demonic like Harry Potter, or love stories like The Vampire Diaries---in spite of world religion specialists warning about the open door to the demonic. Ive heard some of the same people now worried about the lack of Biblical basis of this movie justify watching Harry Potter because I know Truth and I know Jesus wont let me be deceived while I enjoy the creativity and special effects of this Sci-Fi story!..... or, I know the Vampire Diaries are about vampires...duh, but its such a great love story, and the leading man is such a hottie! Surely you could claim the same if you saw this movie then....right? The Bible mattered little when taking in those kinds of non-Biblical based stories.....you say mostly because they werent trying to be Biblical. Well, neither has Afronsky said Im making a Bible remake of Noah. Most Christians have ASS-U-ME-d this to be the case, and youre now mad because its not Biblically accurate. Granted, Afronsky hasnt done much to squelch the assumptions, but then Im assuming hes in this for the money mostly, since movie making is his business. The PIRATES series makes reference to LEVIATHAN and other spiritual things, but most cared little whether those references were Biblically sound or not. However, if you know your Bible and anything about Leviathan, it is a spirit you dont wanna mess with! The majority of us were just all happy that the special effects were sensational, and we women were oh so glad they got to ogle at Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in 4 Parts to a sensational story! Cecil B. DeMills THE TEN COMMANDMENTS with Charleton Heston was not at all totally Biblically accurate, and in fact had Jesus saying things he didnt actually say, yet every year at Resurrection time they play it over and over and over. I love that movie and have never fallen away from my walk with the Lord because they didnt get it all right! ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING by Rick Warren was not Biblically accurate, but most of us were able to separate what was Truth and what wasnt. (Wont even go there with other stuff being put out there by RW currently!) Theres so much concern over Biblical truth in the movie NOAH, yet none are questioning the fact that there are also a lot of doctrines being thrown around in the church that cant even be found in the Bible, (Im talking some very sacred cows btw....) yet week after week hundreds of thousands of people participate to uphold man-made traditions that cannot be founded in the Bible or in TRUTH! I dont hear anyone approaching a pastor to point out that their sermon wasnt Biblically sound. Why not, if thats such a huge concern here? If youre going to use it isnt Biblically sound as an excuse to throw this movie overboard, then PLEASE exercise that fully across the board in EVERYTHING you do and watch, from going to church to watching all the other Hollywood stuff that makes innuendoes about Christianity dishonorably, misrepresents God, and uses the Lords name in vain, etc. After all, if you are going to follow LAW and LEGALISM, then you must keep it all to the last jot and tittle! THE GOOD NEWS? In John 16 Jesus assured us that when He went away the Holy Spirit would come to us and HE WOULD LEAD US AND GUIDE US INTO ALL TRUTH. As BELIEVERS, you will know the TRUTH....and the TRUTH will make you FREE! But, as legalism usually does, it makes me wanna go see it just because so many people have said not to. But if I do go, I wanna go with an open mind about it and let Holy Spirit tell me whats good or bad, deciding for myself, not the biased and, from my viewpoint, hypocritical opinions of others. We all get to choose to go or not go....like or not like, but I personally think that God is trying to draw Afronsky in through an obsession He has placed in this mans heart about the NOAH character. God can win with any hand and will lead and guide Afronsky to the Truth, (just as he did us when we knew little about Bible accuracy) wooing him in through the research of this story. He may not have it all right yet, but then neither do all of us, and it grieves me deeply that so many Christians are crucifying this man who clearly needs to know the LOVE of Christ God can lead him to find, even through his imperfect rendition of a story by which he is fascinated, told by an Author He does not know yet, but could. I think Christians have done little to solidify to Afronsky that God did a good thing by saving the few (that is 8) and promising He would never destroy us again. My prayer is that we would all walk in some Biblical accuracy and extend some huge Grace to this man--the same GRACE we all hope is extended to us....in order to uncover TRUTH in everything.....NOT JUST THE STORY OF NOAH! John 1:17 Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ.
