RASMUSSEN POLL: Survey of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters 68% say rewarding hard work is a top priority even if it leads to big differences between rich and poor, but 19% believe insuring equality of income and wealth is more important. Conservative and moderate voters overwhelmingly prefer a system that rewards hard work, while Liberal voters are fairly evenly divided. “It’s not that people like inequality. It’s that they believe fairness demands a connection between work and reward.” Scott Rasmussen, President/Founder, Rasmussen Reports 90% believe it is important that people who are physically able to work be required to support themselves, including 71% who consider it Very Important. 90% also think it’s important to insure that everyone who is willing to work hard has a chance to earn a middle class lifestyle, including 67% regard that as Very Important. 89% believe it is important that people who work hard earn more than those who don’t, including 65% who feel it’s Very Important.
