RCCG HOLYGHOST CONGRESS December 8-13, 2014 Day 1 OPENING SESSION THE DEFENDER OF THE DEFENCELESS PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE Father, let this Congress be a life changing experience for me. Psalm 23:1-4 *The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. *He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. *He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. *Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. The Sheep is probably the most defenceless of all animals. No horns It cant bite, it cant run fast, it has no claws It is completely defenceless except for one thing-it has the shepherd as its defender I know there is someone here tonight completely defenceless. That person has a shepherd-The Lord of Hosts, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. That fellow is connected to the One who lives forever The One who cannot be voted out of power The One who has never lost a battle Who can tell me his name? JESUS! (Crowd response) Its a very frightening thing to be defenceless in a hostile world When a man is sick, he runs to the doctor for defence-what do you do when he tells you your sickness is terminal? When a man is in financial problems, he may run to a bank hoping to borrow money to get out of his financial mess-what do you do if the bank forecloses on you because of collateral? When a child is sick, he looks to the parents for defence-what does the child do when the parents say-the forces against you are beyond our power to defend? Its a terrible thing to feel lonely, forsaken by relatives and friends. its worse when your pastor says I have prayed and there is nothing and no one that can help you. However, there is someone who can help you even when all else has failed. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Tonight, I will give you - SEVEN REASONS WHY I AM SURE THE GREAT SHEPHERD WILL HELP YOU #1. Isaiah 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, MIGHTY TO SAVE. The God we serve is mighty to save Deuteronomy 32:39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. This is for those whose doctors have given bad reports. #2. Not only does He have power to save, he does the following... Isaiah 41:10-13 has a list of his promises * Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. *Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. *Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. *For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. A. He promised to strengthen you B. He promised to help you C. He promised to uphold you D. He will disgrace your enemies E. He will confound your enemies F. He will reduce your enemies to nothing (I am not the one one who said this but God) G. he will cause your enemies to perish Dont take these words for granted, they are coming direct from the Great Shepherd to you. #3. He will fulfill his promises. Numbers 23:19. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? #4. He will do it for his own namesake. Psalm 106:8 Nevertheless he saved them for his names sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known So many enemies have been asking you-where is the God you are serving? He will show them this time. Daniel 3:14-29 Nebuchadnezzar said-Who is that God? At the end he said-There is NO god like Thee. In the name above every name, that will be your testimony. Some of us are in situations that there is nothing anyone can do to help us. He asked me to tell you-That is why you have come here tonight. #5. Whenever He comes to the aid of the helpless, he gets the glory out of it. Not just glory-but ALL the glory. Anytime there is still someone who can help, if any helps, they will still want to share the glory. When they are no more, ALL the glory goes to Him. Luke 7:11-15 (Thank you Daddy.....God asked me to tell someone here tonight-The witch that is terrorizing your family will never fly again) The best they could tell the widow was sorry but the Great Shepherd showed up-only Jesus got the glory. May the glory that only Jesus should have go to him. #6. The strong must help the weak. Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. It is the right thing to do for the strong to help the weak. If nobody else will help you, God will help you tonight. #7. He answers prayers. Psalm 65:2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Can you testify that He has answered your prayer before? He will answer your prayer again. Why must God wait till you are completely helpless before He comes in? #1. Simple-Reason doctors use anesthesia-so that the patient will not struggle or distract the process. God put Adam to sleep first. #2. Because people who are really helpless pray the real prayer. Matthew 15:21-28. I will give you a story before we pray (Story of a woman with an epilectic son who got healed) ALTAR CALL. PRAYER SESSION. #1. Praise Him because He is there (for you) Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. #2. Father, I surrender all to you.-All my problems-physical, material, marital, spiritual-help me now. #3. Father, please send help to me speedily. From the east, west, north, south. From Heaven above. #4. Father, please send help to every member of my family-name them one by one. #5. Father, there are those whose problems are directly or indirectly mine-send help to them through me. #6. Father, please bring me to a level where I can help others. #7. List the specific areas where you need help urgently. Health, financial crisis, children looking unto you for help etc. END OF DAY ONE.
