RE: James Spurgeon “The Debate Over Who Qualifies to Run For President” ivn.us/in-declaration/2013/08/13/defining-natural-born-citizen/ To make a long story short, Mr. Cruz’s claim to be a Natural Born U.S. citizen is precisely the same as Barack Obama’s. To whit, his mother was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth and lived a sufficient length of time within the U.S. “What’s meet for the goose is meet for the gander.” If Obama is qualified to be president, then Ted Cruz is. If Ted Cruz is, then Obama is. In either case, it makes no difference whether he was actually born in the U.S., Canada, Tanzania, or Outer Slobovia.. Having one parent a U.S. citizen at time of birth is enough. Mr. Obama’s birth certificate is clearly fraudulent. He should be charged with fraud for trying to pass it off as real. But his mother’s citizenship is enough to qualify him for the presidency UNLESS at some point he renounced his citizenship for some reason—such as to obtain a scholarship or admittance to a university as a foreign student. By the same token, if he CLAIMED to be a foreign citizen to gain admittance or scholarship and was a U.S. Citizen at the time, he is again guilty of fraud. At any rate, the birth certificate appears as phony as a three dollar bill. Either “Negro” or “Colored” might have been used for his father’s race in 1961-speak, but NOT “African.” That is just not the way people spoke in those days. I was living in 1961 and 11 years old. Old enough to hear how people talked. A typical Egyptian, Moroccan, Libyan, or Afrikaner (South African Dutch) would certainly be “African” and also “Caucasian” or “White” NOT “Negro” or “Colored.”
