RE: Mayweather vs. Maidana I have watched this bout in its entirety a total of two times(plus some highlight clips I could find on youtube). My final score for the bout was: Mayweather 8 Rounds : Maidana 4Rounds = Mayweather Unanimous Decision Victory. Marcos was far more active at the onset of the bout, however due to Floyd’s impeccable defense few of his punches were landing cleanly. The rounds Maidana won were due to high punch output and activity. Even when positioned against the ropes, Floyd threw excellent counters to the head AND body(Up&Under). I noticed a clear change in Floyd at the end of round 5. His adjustment switch came on and he went beast mode. From that point on, the fight was Floyd’s. His offense was pin-point precise and he threw more combinations in this fight than I’ve seen him throw in a very long time. I was definitely impressed by Floyd’s body punching! This was a rough fight, and I give credit to Marcos for putting up a valiant effort… however there is no way Marcos won that fight. No. Way. THAT BEING SAID… I am a little disappointed with what occurred in the post-fight interviews. Floyd repeated three times to Jim Gray “If he want it again, He can get it again!”. This leads me to believe that we are being set up for a “The Moment 2” Mayweather vs. Maidana ReMatch. I hope this is not the case, I see no need for a rematch. This was not the clean Mayweather boxing match we’re used to… but just remember that Floyd is a business man first and foremost. He knows that his style (while Technically Flawless and a Work of Art) is considered “Boring” to the casual fight fan. Therefore, as he tells Jim Gray “I gave the fans what they wanted to see, a rough and tough fight”. My disappointment lies in the fact that (as Roger Mayweather says) “Most people don’t know shit about boxing” and I’m seeing comments all over facebook like “Mayweather almost lost” …. Or “Mayweather got his ass beat” etc… It reminds me of when Floyd fought Cotto and got a busted up nose… all of a sudden Floyd was getting his ass beat because Miguel landed clean jabs on his face. It’s a FIGHT people! Boxers will bleed. It does not mean they’ve lost or that they’re losing… it’s the nature of the sport. Congratulations to both fighters for putting up a hell of a fight! Congratulations to Floyd Mayweather for yet another victory! I look forward to seeing you put in that work again in September!! #iHeartBoxing
