RE: SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE In 1995, there was a referendum in the Canadian province of Quebec. At issue was whether the French-Canadian province should become independent from Canada and form its own nation. On October 3rd, 1995, three days before the vote, a Unity rally was held, in which 100,000 people from other Canadian provinces poured into the streets of Montreal, Quebec, begging the Quebecois to stay in the Canadian nation. In the end, Quebeckers voted to stay in Canada. The margin was narrow, 50.58% NON, 49.42% OUI. Voter turnout was 94%. In other words, next to nobody sat on their asses and decided not to vote. Premier Parizeau was humiliated and resigned the next day. The separatist Parti Quebecois was thrown out of office 8 years later. To the point: If the Better Together side wants to win, the English and the Welsh and the Northern Irish had better get their asses to Glasgow and hold one hell of a Unity Rally. Perhaps seeing thousands of people begging he Scots to stay within the union will change some voters minds and the NO side will win...
