READ THIS ARTICLE: ksl/index.php?nid=1284&sid=27457064 For some reason this subject has popped up over and over again for me over the last 2 weeks. It first came up when my wife & I were watching The Story Trek on one of the BYU channels about a Utah State University student who told his story about coming home from the MTC after being there 3 days (he realized he wasnt ready or perhaps cut out to go on a mission at that time). I then read a post on a Varsity Blog that I follow varsityteamvenue.blogspot/ - see 18 is not the new 19 - Destroying Mormon Culture. Then last Sunday in HP Group meeting Val talked about how a young man (Val didnt mention any names) from our area that didnt go on a mission has been affected negatively all his life. Then this morning I read these articles... (below) My bottom line thoughts on all this is we unintentionally drive a lot of great people out of activity in the Church when we should be loving & RESCUING them! It doesnt matter why they didnt go on a mission OR why they came home early! The important thing is that they feel loved, accepted, and they stay active in the Church growing and progressing. The Lord knows who they are, what they can become, and what lives they will effect for good. This may just be part of their trial in life and we MUST help them through it in any way we can. Perhaps the folks doing the studies can help us understand how to do this. To me we all need to be RESCUED - that is what the Atonement is all about. Just my thoughts on all this for whatever it is worth. Have a GREAT day! John Blackham
