REBECCA UPDATE: You know, there was a time when I didnt have good things to say about Facebook. It takes too much time, its just a waste of time, etc. etc. When Bec first found out she had leukemia in July of 2013, I signed up again on FB to easily give updates to family and friends. I have found it to be therapy to be able to vent and tell our story as it unfolds. And I CANT BEGIN to tell you what it means to have some of the kindest, sweetest and heartfelt comments given to us during this journey. It sometimes is just the thing to brighten Becs day! Bec has had a very trying week. After numerous x-rays, ultrasounds, ekgs and plenty of pokes and prods, she MAY be turning the corner and starting an upswing. Basic summary, her colon and her intestines, for the most part, shut down. Because of this, her stomach swelled unbelievably! She has gained just over 20 lbs. in 5 days!!!! Her skin on her stomach and upper legs and lower back is stretched tight. The surgeons involved said today they would start easing off a bit because it looks like this may be handled by anitbiotics. Finally today, things starting working and as the evening goes along, shes beginning to show that smile I love so much! The bone marrow transplant team is pleased with how things are progressing and Bec may get out the early or mid part of next week. After a few days of some of the most heartbreaking hours of watching her hurt, this evening I am VERY HAPPY man!! I decided to post a picture of Bec from a happy day. This was last year after her first round of chemo in Asheville and we had a day out at the Biltmore Estate. The picture of the IV pole is an idea of what all has been going on this week. Once again, thank all of you for your prayers and positive thoughts sent our way. We love each and every one of you!!
